Aviva Crowdfunder launched to support Ocean Explorer Academy
We are pleased to announce a crowdfunder through the AVIVA Community Fund to help raise much needed funds for their innovative Ocean Explorers Academy.
The Ocean Explorer programme empowers an active cohort of engaged young people working for the benefit of nature, the community, and the planet.
It gives young people a holistic deep dive into nature and its protection and offers friends and family to be part of the experience too.
Small groups of specially selected pupils from local secondary schools head out into nature on a weekly basis to experience outdoor learning through insect surveys, rock pool investigations or fungi identification to name but a few of the activities. The young people take part in practical conservation and learn about career pathways into conservation roles too.
Libby, Education Coordinator PFND, says: “Any funds raised through our AVIVA crowdfunder will pay for delivery of sessions and much-wanted broadening of the programme's content and reach. We want to be able to engage more young people, empowering a connected community of positive change-makers.
Each pound donated will be doubled and will help us to create a meaningful, lasting legacy and a cohort of planet - saving superheroes!.”
We have recently received funding support for the programme from the North Devon Coast National Landscapes through the Sustainable Communities Fund (CRF), The Swire Charitable Trust, and have been loaned a minibus for 12 months thanks to support from Parkdean Resorts.
“Extra funds raised alongside our new 17 seater minibus are going to be hugely transformative in shaping this year's impact” stated Claire Moodie, PFND CEO, “We are really looking forward to helping facilitate more young people getting into nature and taking part in conservation/nature improvement activities.”
We are calling for donations from individuals and businesses alike. Any business that donates £250 will automatically be signed up as a PFND Businesses Supporter and will receive a Business Supporter Logo 2024 and numerous opportunities to spotlight their support across PFND communications platforms. We also have an exciting array of rewards on offer to those donating over £20. For those that can stretch to £50, you have an opportunity to nominate a primary school of your choice to receive a free school assembly. PFND will select 3 schools at random to receive this prize. **Any school more than 20 miles outside of Braunton, will receive an online option.
