Cleanse and Clean Northern Devon Schools Dryrobe® Competition - Information

As we all know getting out into nature has fantastic benefits for our mental health and wellbeing, it also increases our respect for what nature has to offer. Our Cleanse and Clean campaign aims to get individuals outside enjoying a bit of fresh air and then giving back to nature at the same time.

Northern Devon (North Devon and Torrideg) school pupils can now get involved in this campaign and will get the chance to win their own dryrobe®!

Here is how to get involved and enter the competition:

Step 1: Going outdoors to carry out a cleansing action. This could be anything that gives the feeling of blowing away the cobwebs: A jog, a walk, a cycle, a dip in the sea, a surf, a skateboard or just a run around in the rain!

Step 2: Students to follow up that action with giving back to nature by cleaning during or after the activity.

Examples of this:

  • Tuck a bag into your pocket and pick up litter if you are heading out for a walk

  • If you are walking on the beach chose a small area to pick up as many microplastics as possible

  • If you are out on a bike ride stop halfway for a litter pick.

Step 3: Once the task has been completed students need to take a photo of what they have done and email: plasticfreenorthdevon@gmail.com  along with their name, school, a rough estimate of what they picked up and where they picked it up from. This doesn't have to be a photo of the students face, just a photo of their action.

We would love to share some actions on our social media, please indicate in your email whether you are happy for this. We will omit any names and the school they attend unless told otherwise.

Each entry will be put into a draw to win a dryrobe® Advance. There are two available to win - one for primary and one for secondary. The more Cleanse and Clean action entries sent in, the more chance of winning. Photographic evidence required.

If students have access to social media either through their own account or their parents we encourage them to share their positive action with us and dryrobe® by tagging us in any posts/stories. Use the tags: @plasticfreenorthdevon @dryrobe and use the hashtags #plasticfreenorthdevon and #cleanseandclean

Safety: Please make sure that you use gloves and/ or litter picker when picking up litter, DO NOT pick up any sharps and we strongly advise you wash your hands afterwards.

This competition ends on 22nd February 2021.

This campaign aims to help students connect with the outdoors to relieve stress and improve happiness. Giving back to nature is a way of preserving this incredible resource that is essential in all of our lives now and in the future.
