Job Title: Communications Coordinator

Reports to: CEO - Claire Moodie 

Location: Office (Braunton) and Home based 

Hours: 15-20 hours per week.  Flexible working  with 1 day in the office. 

(Monday is a mandatory work day).

Employment Status: To suit- Employed or self-employed.

Pay: Dependent on hours, experience and employment status. Maximum 

salary for the role is £33,740 prorated. Self-employed rate to be confirmed at

interview.

Charity Purpose:

Plastic Free North Devon (PFND) is a local environmental charity on a mission to protect and improve our environment through community led action. We aim to connect people with their natural surroundings through conversations, education and events to ensure residents and visitors alike want to protect what our very existence depends on. We want to see radical transformation towards a healthier and more informed relationship with the environment.

Role Purpose:

To help PFND optimise and grow their impact through all communications platforms in order to help meet the charity’s mission.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

We are a small, dedicated team so a committed and proactive approach is essential to help us continue to work towards our mission.  

  • A keen interest and experience in social media, image creation and communications and a desire to bring creativity and new ideas to the charity. 

  • Be adaptable and able to work efficiently with a small team in a busy office

  • Ability to manage and execute multiple tasks

  • Passionate about the environment and a commitment to the values and mission of Plastic Free North Devon

Responsibilities

MANAGEMENT & ORGANISATION

  • Managing PFND communications plan

  • Organising workflow and tasks via Monday.com

  • Planning and leading monthly communications meetings

  • Managing Communication Assistant

  • Liaising with Croyde Triathlon team to create communications plan and role out

  • Assist with and execute brand evolution in  2025

STRATEGY & ANALYSIS

  • Lead on the development of our overall  comms strategy with the support of our  CEO & Operational Manager.

  • Producing and analysing stats and analytics for quarterly Trustee Reports

  • Monitoring press coverage and Google Alerts

  • Monitoring, analysing and developing key campaigns and projects e.g. Croyde Ocean Triathlon, Visitor Campaign, Repair Cafes, Community Cleans

  • Help identify national and local campaign opportunities to support and get involved with

  • Source and execute advertising and promo opportunities in both print and digital

  • Create and maintain relationships with stakeholders and other key parties

  • Actively  work with existing and new  partners to co-create impactful comms to support collective mission and objectives. 

TASKS & CREATIVE 

  • Creating designs for social media, print and email campaigns

  • E-shots - produce, plan and coordinate the monthly ‘What’s On’ & bi-monthly ‘Our News’

  • Creative social media content

  • Content writing: for social media, blogs and PR

  • Weekend rotating on social media inbox checks and storiesCurating and posting blogs

  • Updating website content and managing events calendar

Skills

ESSENTIAL

  • Organised and excellent communicator

  • Proficient in using MailChimp

  • Extensive experience using Facebook, Meta & Instagram

  • Basic knowledge of using LinkedIn

  • Experience in creating reels using native templates and within Canva

  • Experience writing press releases

  • Proficient in using Canva to work on existing design templates and create new ones in line with charity branding

  • Basic knowledge of writing for SEO and basic organic SEO

  • Interpreting and reporting communications analytics using Meta, Mailchimp, Squarespace

  • Confident using Meta Ads Manager

  • Proficient in using operational systems such as Microsoft /Google Suite 

  • Confident using various CMS platforms - happy with using Squarespace

  • Managerial experience 

DESIRABLE

  • LinkedIn proficiency and experience using the platform as part of a wider strategy

  • Experience using Later.com

  • Experience creating QR codes

  • Experience in creating Google Ads & PPC experience

  • Knowledge of Google Analytics

  • Experience using Monday.com

  • Proficient in using  the Google Suite - especially Google Sheets

  • Experience working or volunteering in the environmental/charitable sector
