Day of Action across North Devon & Torridge 28/01/23

Grab your litter pickers and enjoy the health benefits of nature at the same time as giving back as part of local environmental charity Plastic Free North Devon’s Cleanse and Clean Day of Action on Saturday 28th January.

Wherever you are in North Devon and Torridge, grab your flask of hot chocolate (or your tipple of choice), your litter picker and bag, and head out for a Cleanse and Clean action! It’s the perfect excuse to get outside, cleanse our minds and bodies and give back to nature by carrying out a street, beach, or park clean while you’re there. Guaranteed feel good vibes, and you might even win a dryrobe® Advance!

You can go along to one of the charity’s organised community cleans across North Devon and Torridge with a variety of different local organisations,  Including an abseil to a more isolated spot in Screda Cove,  or take part as an individual in your own community. It all makes a difference.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Being outdoors can hugely benefit our mental health by relieving stress and improving our happiness, and this campaign is about encouraging people to do just that whilst giving back to the environment at the same time.

And as if that wasn’t enough good stuff, you could even be in with the chance to win a  dryrobe® Advance - here’s how:

  1. Perform a ‘Cleanse and Clean’ action * whenever and wherever you choose across North Devon and Torridge, in the month of January or from the group cleans on the Day of Action.

  2. To enter the competition send a picture of the action* you have taken to:  info@plasticfreenorthdevon.org along with the location, your name, age category (Primary School, Secondary School and College, or 18 +) with your contact details. If you are taking part with your school, college, or groups such as scouting or girl guides, please also include this information. If you are under 16 please provide a parent or guardians contact details too.

  3. If you have access to social media then you can share your action by tagging @plasticfreenorthdevon in any posts with the hashtag #cleanseandclean and encourage others to take part.

*The cleansing action can be anything that involves getting outside to give the feeling of ‘blowing away the cobwebs’. This could be a walk, a jog, a cycle, a dip in the sea, a surf, or just a run around in the rain. The charity are then asking individuals to follow up their action with giving back to nature by cleaning during or after their activity, and/or donating.

The more Cleanse and Clean action entries sent in the more chance of winning! There is one prize for primary school pupils, one for secondary & college pupils, and one for 18+.

Immersing ourselves in nature to relieve stress and improve happiness is only going to be possible in the future if we take care of our planet - this campaign is aimed at encapsulating this.

You can also help the charity process any data on what and how much has been collected on the day by filling out their evidence collection survey after your clean if you are doing it individually >>> Survey

Happy cleansing and cleaning!
