Thompson and Tonic

Thompson and Tonic are a mobile gin and tonic bar, serving delicious South West gins from a vintage Volkswagen van.

Actions to date:

  • Uses PLA compostable straws instead of plastic and does not give them out unless asked

  • Opts for glasses at weddings and events where washing facilities are readily available

  • PLA compostable cups are used at necessary events

  • Nikki only does events in the South west, keeping her carbon footprint to a minimum

  • Grows all her own seasonal herbs in her allotment

Working on:

  • Looking to reduce the need for bags of ice by working collaboratively with local bars and restaurants to collect ready-made ice

Using plastics was just never an option and working with the guys at Earth Friendly Foodware has been a delight! We use sustainably made, plastic-free, compostable glasses to serve our drinks. Having a fancy, luxurious feel with your G+T was really important to us so we’ve been really lucky to find that in a plastic-free alternative. Getting involved with Plastic Free North Devon has made us look at our own plastic use at home and it’s interesting to see how many options there are to make small changes on a day to day basis.
