Join the repair revolution! 🌍💚
Come along anytime 10am-1pm
👕 Textiles repairs
Such as replacing zips and buttons (bring your own zips and buttons), darning teddy bears, simple alterations, visible darning
📻 Small electrical repairs
Such as radios, headphones, cameras
🍎🍏 Also it’s Braunton Apple Day at Braunton Countryside Centre, so why not bring your apples along too and do both!
👉Please note:
We are not a professional repair service, so please don’t bring us ‘fancy’ repairs like wedding dresses - just drop us a message if you’re not sure.
☕We will also be serving cake and hot drinks to keep you refreshed while you watch and learn.
🧵If you are unsure on whether to bring an item or not - please email info@plasticfreenorthdevon.org and we will run it by our sewing stars to see what we can do.
🧵Donations are welcome but not expected.
🧵We'd rather you didn't drop and run (unless you have to) - this event is about building community connection and sharing skills.
🧵 Can't make this one?
Our Braunton Repair Cafe is roughly every 6 weeks at the Museum of British Surfing or see our What's On page for upcoming Repair Cafes throughout North Devon 👇https://plasticfreenorthdevon.org/whats-on
VOLUNTEER WITH US
We are always on the lookout for a few more volunteers, either to share their mending skills at the Cafes or to help out behind the scenes and welcome people on the day. You don’t need to be a professional seamstress or upholsterer or mechanic to volunteer - just someone with some basic skills who is happy to share what they know. There is no pressure to undertake any repairs that you are not confident with. 🙋
Please get in touch with PFND's Repair Cafe Coordinator Cathy on cathy@plasticfreenorthdevon.org if you would like to get involved.
THANKS AND FUTURE PLANS
Our Braunton Repair Cafe is a partnership project, part of PFND’s expanding Repair Cafe network, with the support of volunteers from the local community.
Plastic Free North Devon are building on the success of their original Braunton Repair Cafes, thanks to funding from the National Lottery Together For Our Planet Community Fund, and supporting North Devon towns and villages to get their own Repair Cafes up and running. PFND are also members of the national Repair Cafe Network. There are currently Repair Cafes in Braunton, Landkey, Ilfracombe, and Barnstaple.
If you are an individual or community group interested in setting up or becoming involved with a Repair Cafe in your own town or village, please get in touch with Cathy on cathy@plasticfreenorthdevon.org.
