South Molton Repair Cafe & Skills Workshop

  • YMCA South Molton Mill Street, South Molton EX36 4AS (map)

NEW this year - we are running a series of Skills Workshops around North Devon and we are very pleased to bring you this one in South Molton alongside our Repair Cafe...

We will have dedicated skilled volunteers to help you learn or enhance your repairing skills.

You could learn any these skills…

1. Morse Bags - sewing machine skills whilst learning how to make these bags

2. Visible Mending/Darning

3. Crocheting

💸 This is a FREE service! Donations are welcome but not expected.

We will also be running our Repair Cafe where we will be offering the following repairs:

🧵Textiles repairs (always available) - Such as replacing zips and buttons (bring your own zips and buttons), darning teddy bears, simple alterations, visible darning.

🔨Simple carpentry and handman-type repairs

📻 Soldering and other small electrical repairs

🖥 ICT support

💍 Basic jewellery repairs

However, as we rely on volunteers, we can't always guarantee that all these skills will be available.
If you have any questions, email info@plasticfreenorthdevon.org at least 48 hours before the event to give us time to respond.

👉Please note:
We are not a professional repair service, so please don’t bring us ‘fancy’ repairs like wedding dresses. If you are unsure on whether to bring an item or not - please email info@plasticfreenorthdevon.org and we will run it by our sewing stars to see what we can do.

💸 This is a FREE service! Donations are welcome but not expected.

💚 We'd love it if you could stay whilst we repair your items, our cafes are about building community connection and sharing skills too.

🙋‍♀️VOLUNTEER WITH US🙋‍♀️
We are always on the lookout for a few more volunteers, either to share their mending skills at the Cafes or to help out behind the scenes and welcome people on the day. You don’t need to be a professional seamstress or upholsterer or mechanic to volunteer - just someone with some basic skills who is happy to share what they know or a friendly welcoming face to help run the event. There is no pressure to undertake any repairs that you are not confident with.
Please get in touch with us on info@plasticfreenorthdevon.org if you would like to get involved.
